Kennel and Breeder Profile
| I have been involved with dogs professionally
since 1997. I began training as a professional
groomer and have also worked as a vet tech. I
purchased my first Border Collie as a pet in 1997.
This first dog taught me more about owning and
training a dog than any other dog in my life.
With the purchase of my second Border Collie in
1999, I became a hopeful breeder. I bred my
first litter in 2002 and kept two females from that
litter and purchased my first stud dog at the same
time.
I have trained dogs in agility, obedience,
conformation and Frisbee. I have done
extensive research into genetics, dog behavior and
training, breeding, temperament and nutrition.
I attended Animal Science classes at New Mexico
State University. I am a full member of the
Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America and The
American Border Collie Association America. I
attended the 2006 AKC Health Foundation Breeders
Symposium and Seminar in Branson Missouri and also
have The American Kennel Club's Breeders Education
Certificate for completion the ABC's of Breeding
Study Program. |
| The dogs are more than just breeding stock in
our kennel. They are members of our family and
are treated as such. Our dogs are provided
with the best possible nutrition, training and
grooming. Our dogs are not kept in the way
many breeders keep their dogs. We believe that
variety of environment and human interaction as well
as canine interaction is necessary for their
well-being.
Our dogs all have individual inside/outside runs.
They are provided fresh food and water daily, they
are allowed free run time in one of two 1 acre yards
sometimes alone and sometimes with other dogs.
The kennel runs are heated and cooled and have
outdoor shade. We provide toys and activities
to give their active brains something to do when we
can't be with them. All of our dogs are on a
training and grooming rotation schedule.
Everyone is given individual attention. Each
dog is provided with time inside with the family for
extra interaction time.
Every litter of puppies is born in my home and
raised and socialized in a home environment until 5
weeks of age. When the puppies are five weeks
old they and their mother are moved to an
indoor/outdoor run. The run has obstacles for
them to climb on and under. Toys to play with
and pools of water to splash in. We leave our
mothers with their puppies after weaning. The
mothers help to teach the puppies canine
communication skills and how to relate to adult
dogs. Our puppies are exposed to dogs other
than their mother around the kennel and also in my
grooming shop. They start going to work with
me at about 7 weeks of age for professional grooming
and socialization with other dogs and people.
They learn about riding in cars and staying in
crates. Our puppies are temperament tested and
structurally evaluated at 8 weeks of age.
Prospective puppy owners are interviewed and
screened and assisted in making the right choice
about their new puppy companion. All puppies
are sold on a contract with a guarantee and lifetime
technical support. |

| We breed dogs first and foremost for our own
needs to replace breeding stock and to improve on
our existing breeding program. All of our
breeding stock has an extensive evaluation of their
pedigree, structure, temperament, health and
comparison with the breed standard before ever being
breed. Careful selection of potential mates are
considered with the same extensive evaluation.
Breedings are planned generations in advance.
Our primary focus in our breeding is to breed
dogs in agreement with their breed standard with
correct temperaments for the original function they
were bred for. We strive to produce healthy,
happy companions for work, sport and competition.
We will not sacrifice temperament, structure or
health for any reason. Not for color, ear set
(Border Collies), markings, size. |
